The ground rules.

1. What Gift Circle is

Gift Circle is a place to share everyday needs and connect with people who want to help. Gift Circle is not a bank, money transmitter, payment processor, escrow service or charity.

We do not hold, move, receive or verify money. Every transfer happens on a third-party service such as Venmo or Cash App, under that service's own terms, fees, limits and privacy settings. Gift Circle is not a party to any transfer between members.

2. No deposits or insurance

Nothing on Gift Circle is a deposit account, and nothing on Gift Circle is insured by the FDIC or any other government agency. Any protections offered by a payment service are that service's, not ours.

3. Who can join

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding agreement. You're responsible for your account, for keeping your sign-in details safe, and for the accuracy of what you post.

4. Gifts are voluntary

Gifts are voluntary and personal. A request is not a promise that anyone will give, and a gift is not a purchase, loan, investment or tax-deductible donation. A requested purpose is a note, not a restriction on how money is spent.

Gift notes and confirmations are self-reported. We cannot help with refunds, chargebacks or disputes — contact the payment service you used. Always check the recipient's handle and the amount before sending.

5. What's not allowed

You may not use Gift Circle for: money laundering, terrorist financing or avoiding sanctions; fraud, scams or misleading requests; impersonating anyone; selling goods or services disguised as gifts; gambling, illegal goods or illegal activity; collecting money on behalf of a charity, cause or other person; or harassing, threatening or pressuring other members.

Do not post bank details, card numbers, passwords or other sensitive information.

6. What we may do

We may remove requests, comments or profiles, and suspend or close accounts, at our discretion and without notice, including when we suspect misuse. We may keep records and share information with law enforcement or payment services when required by law or to prevent harm.

If you see something wrong, use “Report” on a request or email us.

7. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for following the law, for any taxes on money you receive, and for the terms of any payment service you use.

8. Disclaimers and limits

Gift Circle is an early preview provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Gift Circle and its creator are not liable for any loss arising from transfers between members, other members' conduct, or third-party services, and our total liability for any claim is limited to $50.

You agree to cover the reasonable costs, including legal fees, of any claim against Gift Circle that results from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; we'll update this page before changes take effect, and continuing to use Gift Circle means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Gift Circle's creator resides.
