HOW IT WORKS

Small gestures,
honestly explained.

The idea

Gift Circle brings people together around everyday needs and moments of joy. Share a note and an optional amount — dinner, groceries, or something to celebrate. Members can offer money directly through Venmo or Cash App. A requested purpose is a note, not a restriction on how the recipient can spend the money.

What is real today

  • Accounts and profiles. Your profile, photo and payment handles are saved to your own account and only you can edit them.
  • Requests and gift notes. Requests are saved, and self-reported gift notes appear in the recipient’s private inbox after refresh.
  • Your choices. Appearing in the circle and allowing sharing payment handles are both switched off until you turn them on. Requests default to “only me”; choose “the circle” to share the note and requested amount.

Payments happen elsewhere

Opening a payment link does not send money. We’ll try to open your installed app and fill in your chosen amount; browser and app support varies, so you may need to enter it yourself. Verify the recipient and amount, then complete the transfer in Venmo or Cash App. Your private Gift Circle note is not sent to the payment service. Gift Circle charges no fee and never collects banking details. Provider fees, eligibility, limits and privacy settings still apply.

Gift Circle cannot verify transfers. “Send gift note” is the giver’s report; recipient acknowledgement is also self-reported. Always check the payment service for the actual transaction. Gift-card checkout has been retired; earlier cards were previews only.

Who sees what

  • A gift’s amount and note are visible only to you and the person you sent it to.
  • Nobody appears in the circle unless they have switched their profile on.
  • Shared requests show their note and requested amount to signed-in members. Gift notes and amounts are never posted to the circle. External payment services may reveal your identity and activity; check their privacy settings separately.
